The Problem
The urgent need to regenerate rural livelihoods, ecosystems and trust.
Mozambique faces major ESG challenges that continue to limit rural development, weaken ecosystems, and constrain long-term sustainable growth.
The three main challenges we seek to address are:
JFS-RESET addresses these challenges through integrated and commercially sustainable models that combine rural inclusion, ecosystem restoration, responsible value chains, and long-term economic development.

Persistent poverty and rural vulnerability
Around 60% of Mozambique’s population lives below the poverty line. In rural areas, many families depend on low-productivity agriculture, with limited access to finance, markets, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and basic services.
Ecosystem and
soil degradation
More than 40% of agricultural land is degraded. Soil fertility loss, deforestation, biodiversity decline, and climate shocks are reducing productivity and weakening the resilience of rural communities.
Weak institutional capacity and rural systems
Limited infrastructure, weak institutional capacity, low investment in research and innovation, and poor coordination mechanisms reduce the effectiveness of long-term rural development and environmental regeneration efforts.
