Large-scale commercial farming is becoming increasingly relevant in Mozambique, particularly when combined with the use of data-driven technologies and tools that enhance productivity and enable effective responses to the demands of larger markets. This modern approach not only improves agricultural yields but also strengthens food security and the economic resilience of rural communities.
JFS-RESET’s agricultural operations in Mozambique span several strategic locations, covering a vast territory across the northern and central regions of the country. With a strong presence in provinces such as Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Manica, and Maputo, the organization integrates logistical, agro-industrial, and commercial capabilities, promoting a large-scale commercial production model aligned with sustainability principles. Its main hubs—located in Cuamba, Nacala, Chimoio, and Maputo—serve as logistical and processing centers, ensuring efficient supply and distribution of products for both domestic markets and export.
Key products cultivated or commercially supported by JFS-RESET include cotton, sisal, macadamia, and agroforestry systems. These are selected for their economic and environmental relevance, enabling farmers to diversify income sources while strengthening the resilience of agricultural ecosystems. The commercial operation is also anchored in an integrated value chain approach, linking smallholder farmers to processing infrastructure and markets, thereby promoting regenerative and inclusive agriculture.
FOOD SECURITY SERVICES
Since 2017, JFS-RESET has significantly expanded its presence and impact in Mozambique’s agricultural sector by providing food security and livelihood services to third parties, with a focus on vulnerable communities in the northern regions. Between 2017 and 2022, the organization worked with more than 4,000 farmers in districts along the Nacala railway corridor, promoting the production of both food and cash crops, with a direct impact on improving quality of life and generating local income.
Throughout this process, JFS-RESET delivered comprehensive technical support to farmers, including crop selection, farmer identification and registration, distribution of inputs (seeds, fertilizers, and tools), technical training, and the creation of market access channels. These actions have been fundamental in fostering sustainable value chains and stimulating rural economic development.
Since 2022, in response to humanitarian crises in northern Cabo Delgado, JFS-RESET has extended its support to an additional 3,000 farmers, providing emergency assistance, seeds, and agricultural tools for the production of essential food crops. This intervention has been critical in ensuring access to food and restoring livelihoods in displaced and conflict-affected communities.
With a total outreach of more than 7,000 producers between 2017 and 2024, JFS-RESET reinforces its role as an agent of positive transformation, combining innovation, technology, and productive inclusion to drive sustainable rural development in Mozambique.
